Thomas "Teej" Thaldorf came to Kokoro from Mizuno Minnesota One (M1) Volleyball in 2010. Teej has coached many of Kokoro's skills, camp, and league teams while also serving as head-coach for various club teams ranging from 14’s to 18’s – the 2015-16 season closed with the 17-2s team earning a 3rd place finish at the AAU National Championships. A long-time member of the Minnesota volleyball community, coach Thaldorf began his career as a player/coach for the St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) men's team. He continued to pursue volleyball serving as assistant varsity and 9th grade coach in the early 90’s at Lakeville High School while also coaching junior programs, facilitating local and regional camps, and spending countless hours outdoors at beach and grass volleyball venues across the Midwest. In 1994, Mr. Thaldorf’s interests turned to global service and a group called Up With People followed subsequently by an outdoor and retail industry career where extensive global travel, trip leadership, outdoor product design, and all-season expeditions dominated personal and professional life.
Thaldorf returned to coaching in 2009 at Lakeville North (2010 3AAA State Champions) as a varsity and JV coach and finished the year as a head-coach with M1. He holds a degree in Small Group Communications and Sociology from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN, certifications in pragmatic product management and digital marketing, and currently works as a national brand product manager focused on new business incubation. He and his long-time girlfriend, Jen, spend any remaining free-time recovering from repetitive use injuries and navigating friends, family, and the varied landscapes of northern Minnesota and beyond in an over-loaded white Land Rover while trying to resist caffeinated beverages and reduce the family carbon footprint.
